File Submittal Guidelines for Designers

Press-ready art is a high-resolution PDF with fonts outlined. All files must be at least 300 DPI (1200 DPI max) or vector format. We strongly suggest bitmapping any art that is not vector for submittal. All colors must be separated into layers and if you are using a bleed, extend your artwork ⅛ inch past the trim. Contact us with any questions regarding setting up your artwork! If your design requires any adjustments, help is available. The hourly rate for these kinds of changes is $55 an hour.

What designs work best for letterpress?

In order to ensure a beautiful and legible print, there are a few parameters to keep in mind when preparing your designs for letterpress. The thinnest line you can use is .25 pt. or .003” and type should be no smaller than 7 point. Hairlines will either get swallowed up by your paper or will not be able to be transferred onto the plate. Letterpressed large solids will look different than offset solids when printed as the paper tends to show through a bit and result in a “salty” or slightly textured look. We love the way this looks, but want to be sure you do too before submitting your designs to be printed!

Can I see a proof?

The letterpress process requires a significant amount of time and materials during the setup stage, so unfortunately we cannot provide proofs. We will send a PDF of the final plate before we begin printing to be reviewed and approved.

Deposit

It's our policy to ask for 50 percent up front to cover initial costs and labor. Once you have signed off on the plate proof and have agreed to the quote, this deposit cannot be refunded. Once the deposit is received, printing and production will begin. The remaining portion of the invoice is to be paid upon receipt of your cards.

Shipping

We ship all packages via USPS or FedEx. Pricing will vary depending on the size of your order, where it is going, and how fast you need it at your doorstep! Ground shipping usually takes between 1-5 days but expedited options are available if requested.

Refunds

We do everything we can to be sure that you are delighted with your prints and we believe that the products we produce are of the highest quality available! Please take a moment to understand the inherent qualities of letterpress prints -- we hope you will love this antique process as much as we do! Because of the nature of the work and the labor invested in each project, we cannot offer refunds or exchanges.

How do I pay for my order?

We accept cashier’s checks, credit card, and PayPal payments through our online store.
